I took the train to Menton first thing this morning to find the grave of William Webb Ellis. It was easy to find the cemetery, although it was up some very steep streets and passages. The first gate I came to was locked, and it had a sign that said something about using the primary gate instead. So I kept going further uphill until I saw the main gate. I went inside and looked all over. Some online resources said "You can't miss it -- it's decorated with rugby paraphernalia". I walked up and down every path at least twice.
I then found a photo of the grave online and tried to line up the style of fence and the view in the distance to at least figure out roughly where it might be. That led me to the south end, where I saw another level to the cemetery below me that wasn't reachable from where I was. I went back out to the street and there I found another entrance, off to the side. (I may or may not have walked right past it fifteen minutes earlier while looking for the "primary" entrance. 😐 )
Going in this middle entrance was more successful. They even had directional signs in that area.

I took a different path down from the cemetery and went by the Basilique Saint-Michel-Archange à Menton (Basilica of Saint-Michael the Archangel).

Then back to Nice via train. Once in Nice, I ate lunch at World Burger. Very good, but not as good as Big Fernand. Then I found a running store and bought some new socks to replace the ones that are starting to get holes.

Today's match was Italy v Uruguay. Full writeup here. After the match I took the tram back as far as the Magnan area and went to Momo Pizza for dinner. The pizza was fantastic, and the proprietor didn't speak English. But we managed to make it all work with my crappy French.

It's my last night in Nice so I grabbed a photo of the hotel elevator capacity.

| Capacity: 3 people; or not quite two of me |
