One of the best bits of pre-trip advice came from Lea. Travel with less stuff. Do laundry in the sink when needed. I listened.

That's all I'm carrying. While it feels a bit heavy if I've got a long walk from the train to the hotel -- or if I arrive in a city before check-in time and have to carry it for even longer -- it sure beats wrestling a suitcase or two through airports, train stations, and metros.
And my mom sent along an elastic clothesline which I've been able to hang in several places to dry the laundry after washing it in the tub, shower, or sink,
